The future of Israeli Real Estate: forecast for 2024

03.09.2024 By Ariyel Maresky

As we step into 2024, many are left wondering: Is now the right time to invest in real estate? With interest rates fluctuating, economic uncertainties lingering, and the housing market showing signs of both resilience and volatility, it's only natural one might feel uncertain about making such a significant financial decision. A recent survey among experts in the field sheds light on the expectations for the real estate market this year, offering some insights that might help you make a more informed choice.

A Cautious Optimism

A survey conducted among 211 professionals in the real estate sector, including appraisers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and mortgage consultants, indicates the future might hold some optimism. According to the survey, 51% of appraisers anticipate a rise in apartment prices by the end of 2024, while 83% of all respondents recommend purchasing an apartment this year.

This optimism isn't unfounded. Among the survey participants, 79% boast over a decade of experience in the field, with a significant portion active in the central (49%) and northern (22%) regions of the country.

What Lays At the Base of These Predictions?

Several factors are influencing these predictions. The most significant ones include the interest rate (28%) and the general economic situation (28%), both of which are seen as pivotal in shaping the real estate market this year.

Geography also matters. Professionals in the northern region are more bullish on the market, with 56% expecting prices to rise, compared to 47% in the central region and only 36% in the south.

Is it truly the perfect time to make a purchase?

So, what does this mean for you? If you're considering buying an apartment, the majority of professionals seem to agree that 2024 may be an optimal year for such decision. While there is no crystal ball to predict the future with absolute certainty, the prevailing sentiment among those in the know is one of cautious optimism. Whether you're looking to buy your first home, invest in property, or simply stay informed, the current market dynamics tells a compelling story.
